Verne Dhërmi

Embedded within the cliffs of Dhërmi, the hotel reveals itself gradually as guests descend into a network of rooms, courtyards, stairways and passages carved directly into the rock. The material palette—stone lintels, exposed rock surfaces and muted pink stucco—responds naturally to the coastal terrain, allowing the building to blend into its context and appear nearly hidden from a distance. A grid establishes the underlying structure of the guest rooms, while intentional breaks in the pattern create small intermediate courtyards that bring light, air and social interaction into the complex. At its centre, a taller volume contains the bar, restaurant and rooftop pool, re-establishing a visual and spatial connection with the sea and surrounding landscape.
